A functionalized graphene aerogel for efficient water purification

Water pollution has become a worldwide problem due to ever-increasing industrial wastewater. An ideal adsorbing material is able remove oils, organic solvents and dyes from water efficiently, particularly with high adsorption capacity reusability. Herein, the authors report novel strategy of synthesis three-dimensional functionalized graphene aerogel (FGA) porous structures for effective purification. The FGA prepared by facile one-step hydrothermal method, in which oxide reduced ethylenediamine modified dodecyltrimethoxysilane enhance hydrophobicity. When used as an material, exhibits (130–242 g/g oils solvents, 197–596 mg/g dyes). Furthermore, also reusability durability being reused solvent–water separation ten cycles without losing its hydrophobicity, makes it good candidate treatment.
